Department of Dermatology

 

Dermatology department was established in 1995. PG course in Dermatology was started in 2006. It was one of the earliest dept to start PG course at GMC Kannur. Department offers OP & IP care for all skin diseases, sexually transmitted diseases and leprosy. OP department is located in 3rd floor, room no 17. There are dedicated Dermatology male and female wards in 701 & 702 respectively. There is a side lab attached to OP for doing tests like KOH mount, Tzanck smear, AFB Stain, Grams stain etc. There is a mini conference hall attached to OP for conducting seminars. Department library has around 400 books related to Dermatology, STD and Leprosy. In addition to routine treatments, there is facility for advanced therapy including biological therapy for conditions like pemphigus, psoriasis etc. Department has 3 Professors, 2 Assistant Professors and a Llecturer. There is a dedicated STI counselor in the department. Various dermatological and cosmetic procedures conducted are listed below. Faculties have presented papers, delivered lectures and chaired sessions in State, National as well as International conferences. Post graduate students have achieved prizes in various conferences. There are many research publications in National and International journals. The faculty and Post graduate students conduct studies and do research on various topics.
