Department of Anatomy

 

The anatomy department was set up in this institution since its inception in 1995. The department is active in all academic and research activities of this college including training MBBS, BDS, Bsc Nursing, BSc MLT and paramedical diploma courses. Unclaimed and donated bodies are accepted in the department which are preserved and used for study purpose. The department also provides embalming service to the public for distant transportation of dead bodies. In fact in North Kerala our institution handles major percentage of embalming service for distant transportation of dead bodies.

Facilities

1. DISSECTION HALL – Accommodating 100 M.B.B.S Students & 60 B.D.S. students at a time.

2. MUSEUM – Displaying more than 400 well dissected and mounted Specimens, Skeletons & Models

3. HISTOLOGY LABORATORY – Accommodating a batch of 50 students at a time.

4. LIBRARY -Having more than 500 books on the subject catering to the needs of the faculty and students.

1. EMBALMING SERVICES

a. Academic purpose - Donated and unclaimed bodies are preserved and used for study purpose.

b. Cosmetic purpose - Embalming Service to public for distant transportation of dead bodies by preserving them

 

2. BODY DONATION

Accepting bodies from the relatives of the dead person as per their willingness.

Conduct theory classes, dissect cadavers, study structure of tissues and organs using microscope, seminars and examinations. In the CBME curriculum we conduct few sessions in foundation course and AETCOM modules.
